Aitzi Cofre Real and Scottie Thompson are a piano-vocal duo that met during their studies in London. Inspired by the musical explorations of Norma Winstone and John Taylor, the duo shares a passion for the Great American Songbook but also ventures into other genres. Their musical repertoire draws from jazz standards, contemporary compositions, folk and Latin American music.
They perform regularly in various venues across the UK, captivating audiences with their subtle, lyrical and sometimes energetic interplay. Together they blend their influences seamlessly, creating a distinctive and original sound that reflects their personalities and musical backgrounds.
Scottie Thompson is a London-based pianist, composer and producer. He draws from a myriad of musical styles in his playing; an extensive knowledge of the jazz tradition combined with classical training, as well as his love for folk and electronic music all accumulate to form his distinctive sound at the piano. Scottie has performed at major venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Cafe, the Barbican and Queen Elizabeth Hall, as a sideman for some of the finest jazz musicians across the UK from all generations. Scottie is a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music.
Aside from performing, Scottie is an award -winning composer, influenced by both traditional and contemporary music. Scottie has composed for an array of lineups, from piano trio to string quartet, big band, jazz octet and chamber orchestra. He has won the Dankworth Prize for one of his big band compositions, and his arrangements have been performed by leading ensembles across Europe. Scottie has also performed his original compositions with his trio as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
